For a low-cost operator verification of audio components on the final assembly line, Test Products, Inc. offers a flexible signal generator for use on either AM or FM bands. The tone generator transmits a modulated tone on a desired frequency, which provides a consistent method for an operator-based functional check. The system may also be fitted with an optional external modulation source that provides users with the ability to customize audio signal output. Antenna systems are custom engineered for your site and typical installations with the AM band will cover 300 feet of assembly line.

Test Products, Inc. has developed a patent pending technique for identifying audio system problems. The Audio System Test was designed to help automotive OEMs significantly reduce 60 day warranty claims against the audio system.

Today's audio systems are far more complex than those of only a few years ago; it is not unusual for a current system to be comprised of 10-12 speakers and multiple amplifiers. This level of complexity leaves the assembly plant with dozens of connections to make during the build process -- none of which can be easily or reliably verified on an assembled vehicle.

The Audio System Test provides an easy and effective means to test the integrity of the entire audio system. Utilizing advanced digital signal processing techniques, the test can reliably capture all assembly- related defects, including:

  • Disconnected antennas and coax
  • Disconnected subs, woofers and tweeters
  • Disconnected/malfunctioning amplifiers
  • Open/short circuits on speakers and amplifiers
  • Disconnected/malfunctioning head unit
